My Favorite Location for Family & Engagement Photos

Southport is not only a great spot to bring my family, but it’s my top location for family and engagement photo sessions. Its golden hour is a photographer’s dream.

Best Places to Eat in Southport

  • Enjoy coffee and croissants at G Cafe & Bakery, one of my favorite coffee shops and bakeries in the area.
  • The go-to lunch spot for the in-the-know crowd is the Grey Goose Cafe. You can’t go wrong with their crisp Cobb Salad.
  • Favoring a picnic lunch instead? Grab the necessities (including a bottle of wine) at the Spic & Span Market, then head to the harbor to enjoy your meal.
  • Ready for a nightcap? End your night at beloved dive bar, The Horseshoe Cafe (or, as locals call it, “The Shoe”).
The best hotel in Southport, CT is the Delamar Hotel

Southport’s Best Hotel

  • There’s really only one recommendation here, and it’s the Delamar Hotel. Its timeless, classic look and charming coastal location make it the perfect place to enjoy a getaway. Their Spa is fantastic and newly renovated. My go-to pampering of choice is their Balancing Stone massage, especially when paired with their infrared sauna blanket.

Where to Shop

A great place to shop for antiques and unique items in Southport, CT is the Fairfield Women's Exchange

  • The Fairfield Women’s Exchange is the place to go to find a variety of treasures, from trendy accessories for women and men to children’s clothing (perfect for heirloom portraits), antiques, hostess gifts, and more! Plus, the mission of the Exchange — which donates its proceeds to charities that work to ensure the well-being of women and children — is close to my heart.
  • The Foxtrot Home is another lovely antique shopping spot that’s known for its refurbished furniture, home decor, and paint supplies.

History & Charm in Southport

  • After visiting the shopping area in town, walk to the harbor (notice the sailboats!) and enjoy the gorgeous views of the historic homes and lush landscapes along the way.
  • The marina is also a beautiful spot to enjoy watching the boats in the water.
  • The Pequot Library is a favorite (and free) spot full of activities for everyone in the family. The historic building is beautiful, and the rotation of exhibitions and events offer entertaining and fulfilling experiences for all.

The Southport area is packed with that quintessential, cozy New England vibe. Whether you’re exploring its attractions or savoring its serene golden hour, this town provides the ideal backdrop for stunning portraits.
